Charles “Charlie” Conois Bellamy was born on June 5, 1942 in Tabor City, North Carolina, to the late Reverend Charlie Bellamy and Mrs. Rosa Bellamy Riggins (Rev. Sylvester V. Riggins, stepfather). On Wednesday March 10, 2021, God dispatched one of His angels from heaven to the Hermitage Retirement Center in Rockingham, North Carolina to call him home.
Charles accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Union Baptist Church in South Carolina. He received his formal education from Horry County Public schools and went on to graduate from Chestnut Consolidated High School in 1961 and later furthered his education by attending Fayetteville Technical Community College. He then went on to serve
his country in the United States Army twice and was honorably discharged.
He also became a Prince Hall Ancient Free and Accepted Mason and is a current member of King David Grand Lodge of Georgia, where his son Steve White resides as Deputy Grandmaster.
On May 29, 1982, he was joined in holy matrimony to Theresa O’Garra of Bronx, NY and they later made Spring Lake, NC their home. He leaves to cherish precious memories his wife Mrs. Theresa Bellamy, children Steve White (LaRita White) of Atlanta, GA; Ramona Preston (Irvin Preston) of Tampa, FL; Raymond White (Shakima White) of Bronx, NY; Sharlie Brown (Byron Brown) of Winston-Salem, NC; Ronald Gore of NC, Calvin Zachary Bellamy of San Antonio, TX, Bruce Bellamy of Myrtle Beach, SC, Wayland Bellamy (Cassandra Bellamy) of Greensboro, NC; Karen Lewis (Eugene Lewis ) of Ewingville, NJ, Sherry Bellamy, Queenie Pigott (Alan Pigott) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ebony Evans of Myrtle Beach, SC, Miracle Evans of Myrtle Beach, SC. Several loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters: Edward Bellamy, Wilbert Bellamy, Edmond Riggins, Samuel Riggins, Earlene Bessant, and Julene Gause. He leaves behind his sister Carrie Lee Hudson and his brother Alfred Bellamy along with a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
