Richard Lawson Sr.. Obituary

In Loving Memory of Richard Lawson Sr.

Richard Lawson Senior, born on January 6, 1938, in Mobile, Alabama, gained his wings on April 2, 2024, in the Bronx, New York, where he resided. He was the beloved son of the late Lonnie Lawson and Emma Richardson. Richard met and married Carolyn Mc-Natt Lawson on October 20,1980.

Richard will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends. Throughout his life, Richard had a passion for playing cards, spending countless hours enjoying games with loved ones. He was an alumnus of Demopolis High School, where he excelled athletically, particularly in football.

A devoted fan of baseball, Richard cheered passionately for both the Yankees and the Mets, supporting his teams through every inning. His favorite song, B.B. King's "The Thrill is Gone," resonated deeply with him, always evoking fond memories.

In the kitchen, Richard's culinary skills shone brightly as he delighted in preparing and indulging in his favorite foods: fried chicken, fried okra, collard greens, cornbread, Lima beans, and black-eyed peas.

When it came to entertainment, Richard enjoyed immersing himself in shows like "Cowboys & Indians," finding solace and enjoyment in the stories they portrayed.

Richard relocated to New York, where he began his professional journey at the Sleepease Corporation, before securing unionized employment at L & B Garage. He dedicated many years to his work at L & B Garage until his well-deserved retirement. Following retirement, he made a move to South Carolina, where he contributed his skills and expertise to Gold Kist Farms. Eventually, he returned to New York, where he lived for many fulfilling years.

Richard leaves behind a legacy cherished by his loving wife Caroyln McNatt-Lawson and his children:  Ricky Jr.(Sumter, SC) John Lawson (preceded in death), Eric Keith Lawson (preceded in death), Lisa A.
