Mrs. Kia King was born June 27, 1964, to the late Mr. Frank Johnson and Mrs. Catrina Hood (White) in Atlanta, Georgia .Kia attended David T. Howard High School in Atlanta Public Schools.
At the age of 19, she was baptized and added to the Lord’s church at Simpson St. Church of Christ, where Dr. Andrew Hairston served as minister. She attended Southwestern Christian College where she met her future husband.
On January 12, 1985, Kia was united in holy matrimony to Stoney Monroe King. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children Questoveous, La’Quondra, and Quentin.
Kia was a devoted wife and mother. She radiated beauty, class, and elegance. Kia worked for United Airlines for over 20 years. Prior to lending her talents to the airline industry, she dedicated her life to being a present and loving mother and wife, working in the home and supporting her husband’s military career. Her five grandchildren affectionately refer to her as “Mimi.” Mimi took pride in never missing a birthday and doting on her grandchildren unconditionally. Those that love her most remember her as: strong, spicy, opinionated, compassionate, loving, protective, reserved, tough, funny, caring, supportive, selfless, and fashionable.
On Saturday evening, September 16, 2023, the Lord transitioned her from earthly labor to eternal reward. She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Catrina Hood and father, Frank Johnson.
She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memories: who will cherish her memory: her loving husband, Stoney King; her children, Questoveous (Michelle) King, La’Quondra (Tony) Johnson, and Quentin King; her sisters, Kendi (Mike) Hicks and Kortneye Hood; her adoring grandchildren, Quintessa, Lena, Joy, Naomi, and Liam; her aunts, Lillian Partlow, Carolyn White, and Viola (Eric) Bethel; her uncle, Theodore White; brother-in-law, Richard (Ann) White; Cleveland (Betty) King, Willie James King, Geraldine King, David (Nancy) King, Patricia (late Keith) Robinson, Cathy King, and Richard (Anne) White. Kia also leaves behind her three devoted best friends, Sheryl Slyde, Annette Johnson, and Linda Jenkins; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and grace she so selflessly shared with the world.
