Melody Thomas

Melody Thomas was born February 20th, 1956, the first born to the late Hadley Houston and Junita Purnell of Gary Indiana. Melody accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She attended Gary Indiana public schools and graduated from Westside High School. Melody worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 27 years.

Melody Thomas married the love of her life Alonzo Thomas on April 19th, 1980, they enjoyed a loving and caring relationship which spanned for 30 years; from their union came three boys and one girl. Melody and Alonzo worked very hard to provide the best to their children working two jobs for 30 years.

Melody loved helping others, but it paled in comparison to the love she had for her family. She was the oldest of six children and would do anything for her siblings and loved ones.

Melody was preceded in death by her father Hadley Houston, husband Alonzo Thomas, and two siblings Michael and Norman Irving Jr.

Melody leaves to cherish her memory three loving sons and one loving daughter; Alonzo Thomas II(Adrienne Harris)out of Gary, IN; Omar A. Thomas out of Fayetteville, NC, Jeremy L. Thomas out of Fayetteville, NC; Tiffany D. Thomas out of Indianapolis IN. Eight grandchildren: Zanire, Jerrell, Tylee, Braxton, Jamya, Jayla, Omar Jr, and Kayvon. Mother: Junita Purnell, three siblings: Theresa, Jeanette, and Ramon Irving.

Host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whom all loved her and will miss her dearly.
