Ms. Ruby Estelle Ray 91, of  200 West Constance Rd. Suffolk Va, passed on Thursday March 23, 2017 at Kindred Transitional Care in Suffolk Va.

 

 

Friends are being received at 3302 Teakwood Drive Hope Mills, NC.

 


Ms. Ruby Ray was born in Wade, N.C. to the late H.C. and Blanche Carroll on April 28, 1925.
She attended Armstrong High School and Fayetteville State University. At the age of 65 she went back to Housantic Community College. She was and avid reader and a poetess.
She accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at the age of 13. She was a member of Sandy Grove Freewill Baptist Church before moving to Bridgeport,Ct where she was a member of Church of Prayer and Deliverance Pentecostal. She served on the gospel chorus, mother board and was the state mother.
She worked for head start in Cedar Creek for years. In Bridgeport she worked as an answering service employee for Bridgeport Housing, Mercy Learning and foster grandparents.
She leaves to cherish her memories 2 daughters, Oma Doris McKeithean of Suffolk, Va., Ruth  Hankerson (Calvin) Charlotte, NC, 6 grandchildren Vonda McKeithean  Danbury,Ct, Eduardo McKeithean  Bridgeport, CT Chief  Petty Officer  Ketchikan AK Leticia Newsome (David) Chesapeake, Va, Natasha Swift Boston, Ma and Shanea Hankerson Durham, Ct, 1 great grandson Jordan Newsome Chesapeake, Va. A loving sister Eunice Murphy Adams Hope Mills, NC , a brother Rudolph Carroll of Autryville, NC, a god daughter Phyllis Suggs of Concord, NC. Many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
